Karen is from Scottsdale and started working in the dental profession in 1988. After completing year 12, Karen spent five years working as a dental assistant in Launceston before moving to Adelaide to undertake the Associate Diploma of Dental Hygiene, graduating in 1994. Since graduation, Karen has practised in Darwin, Adelaide and Hobart experiencing all aspects of dentistry, returning to Launceston in 2011.
Karen is a member of the Dental Hygienists Association of Australia – a professional body representing dental hygienists – and held a position of National Councillor within this organisation for four years.
Karen regularly attends continuing professional development courses to stay informed of changes within the hygiene profession. Her motivation comes from seeing the outcomes of preventative measures, encouragement and education that is tailored to the needs of each individual.
Outside of dentistry, Karen enjoys going to the theatre and concerts, loves a good laugh and travel.
