Our Vision
The Dental Surgery, Newstead provides a warm and caring environment for the provision of high quality treatment. We value honesty, diligence, efficiency, compassion and integrity. Our focus is to provide the best care possible for our patients, and also to provide a positive work environment. Primarily we are a health service, focused on providing quality healthcare; this will always be our number one priority. We pride ourselves on complete and thorough work to support our patients in achieving optimum oral health.
Our History
The Dental Surgery, Newstead has been serving the Launceston community for nearly 50 years. The practice was started by Dr Bill Edmonson in 1972 in David Street Newstead, it moved to its current location in 1975. The Practice changed hands twice in the late 1990s and was then operated by Dr Richard Claase for 12 years until 2011, growing the practice over this time.
Dr Chris Sanzaro commenced employment with Richard in 2007. Richard was gracious enough to allow Chris to commence refurbishment starting in 2009. Chris was very fortunate to become Practice Owner in 2011 and has continued the refurbishment process since then. In 2017, the Practice increased from three dental chairs to four. The Practice now has a dedicated lab area, allowing some dental appliances to be made on-site. The Dental Surgery, Newstead is pleased to provide both patients and staff with a comfortable environment and state of the art equipment throughout.

At The Dental Surgery, Newstead we aim to meet your individual needs whilst respecting your comfort, time, confidentiality, and financial considerations.
Our staff are highly trained, providing a range of skills to meet your needs. This includes a team of seven Dentists, one Dental Hygienist, and a support team including Practice Manager, Duty Managers, Clinical Coordinator and Dental Assistants who work together to provide you with the best possible treatment and experience. We are committed to continuous improvement, both in the dental and administration fields. We support and advocate for our staff to engage in continued learning and professional development opportunities to maximise their skills.
